First up with the daunting task was graphic designer Bob Gray of Red and Grey Design. When first approached with the theme Bob had thought to refer to the ‘no man’s land’ between receiving a brief from a client to the final design, but instead favoured his more personal experience of a ‘no man’s land’. Whilst travelling between Thailand and Malaysia Bob & his partner travelled across a no man’s land. It was dark, they were on foot and it was very disorientating. There were huge lights about 70ft high along his path and something kept catching the light and his eye, initially thought to be beautiful fireflys or the likes they turned out to be mosquitos!!! So in Bob’s eyes ‘No Man’s Land’ brings back memories of being between borders and surrounded by mosquitos and that is what he has most beautifully conveyed through screenprint on the gallery wall. Visitors to the gallery look out for mosquitos in very obscure places!!
A huge thanks to Bob for making such a great contribution to this project, it’s greatly appreciated.
Also today Piia started her grounding line, I’ll pass over to her for her to elaborate on her feelings on the progress today. crona
On my arrival I was daunted by the white walls as my job today was to draw the line, I didn’t get a chance to do it before Bob came in and if I was nervous before hand I was doubly so after he had completed his amazing piece. Nevertheless the line’s up and check out Bob’s work in these images.
Another busy day tomorrow with the architectural participants coming in to create their works, the general public is more than welcome and encouraged to drop by and see us all in action.
