October 10th

In today were our neighbours and wonderful support source – Business to Arts.  We had given each person a pre-prepared hard ground plate a week or more ago and asked each person to visualise their perception of a no man’s land and or personal terrain on it.  We then we got the drawn plates back off them for Piia to bite in acid ready for printing today.

In today were Ashling and Andrew with two beautiful and very different pieces.

There is a mascot in their office that each of them has and which is taken with each person when they travel.  It has many connotations therefore, it’s a piece of home when they are away, a representation of their personality and a unifying object.  As a result Ashling has decided to print many of these figures over 2 days,  in various colours to represent unity in difference.  Here’s what she has done so far with more being personalised on Monday.

We were also delighted to have another printmaker on hand to day to get her views on the project – Margaret McLoughlin, over lunch Andrew, Ashling, Margaret, Piia and I had an impromtu roundtable discussion on the project which was great.  The concensus was that it was great that printmaking was getting such a platform and that there was so many things that we were all getting from this project which is really encouraging and exactly are aim with instigating this project.
