We are delighted to be working with the Office of Public Works and Rathfarnham Castle in the latest of our exhibitions in other venues.  The site is a wonder to behold and the exhibition held in two of the castles magnificent rooms the dining room and long gallery show off the works beautifully.  The long gallery has recently been painstakingly and lovingly restored and the dining room highlights the checkered past the very walls of the castle portray.

The artists featured in this wonderful exhibition are Niamh Moran, Fiona McDonald, Margaret McLoughlin, Helen Fay, Nickie Hayden, Catriona Leahy, Louise Meade, , Jean Bardon, Stephen Lawlor, Jennifer Lane, Ruth O’Donnell, Aisling Dolan, Marie Louise Martin, Stephen Vaughan, Chul Soo Lee, James McCreary, Felim Egan, Richard Gorman, Maria Simonds-Gooding, Tom Phelan, Michael O’Donovan, Grainne Cuffe, Cliona Doyle, Marta Wakula Mac and Robert Russell.

Hopefully over the last few years we have helped you find the perfect artwork; we hope to continue doing this for you in the future but in a different format! We are leaving the permanent gallery space here in Temple Bar at the end of the month, and will be providing a more tailored, individual consultation to our clients from our new office space in Portobello and indeed in the comfort of your home or premises.

Margaret McLoughlin's Peat Path

Margaret McLoughlin’s Peat Path

We are delighted to announce the opening of Margaret McLoughlin’s third solo exhibition in the Original Print Gallery, which previews on Thursday April 16th 2009.

This new body of work by Margaret McLoughlin conjures up the isolation and desolation of a forest landscape. The power of the elements is seen in the fallen trees, the broken branches and the windswept plain. This constant natural regeneration bears witness to the passing of time. Remnants of man-made structures evoke our fleeting presence on the landscape. McLoughlin uses carborundum and drypoint to convey the rich colours and textures of this wet peaty landscape. In a new departure for McLoughlin, this exhibition includes oils on canvas affording the artist a new domain to explore.

The exhibition continues until May 8th.

‘No Man’s Land’ is a fictional designate, that describes an area not assigned to any owner, an area that clearly does not belong to any subject.

Here at the Original Print Gallery, in a unique participatory art installation/ intervention Finnish artist Piia Rossi and a heterogeneous selection of invited collaborators will explore their differing perspectives of a utopian or personal terrain. Their map will be drawn, printed, stamped directly onto the blank canvas of gallery’s walls. The work will be continually evolving over the week, as the collaborators, design, play with and mark the ‘terra incognito.’ The exhibition aims to explore the space between artists and audience, between public and private space and between the emotional and topographical landscapes.

Hello,

We’ve set this blog up especially for a very special partipatory project we have coming up – No Man’s Land.

We hope that this blog will act as a window into the strange new world we will be creating in the Original Print Gallery.

Each day from October 7th we will have contributers coming in to print their inspired land/city/imagined scapes and contribute to our No Man’s Land.  We will be recording the results each day and uploading them here for you to view.  We are really excited about the variety of results given the diversity of the participants.  Pop back regularily to see how we get on.

Warm regards,

Crona (original print gallery) & Piia Rossi (artist and facilitator)
